Course introduction:
In this eSeminar, we will discuss basic anatomy of the eye along with a basic understanding of embryology and development of the eye. We will discuss how to prepare the RetCam and the infant prior to a photographic session. We will then cover how to combine the RetCam imaging technique with ocular anatomy to understand how to properly image an infant. The session will close with a question and answer portion to allow all users the opportunity to address their needs.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
• Identify and define general ocular anatomy as well as understand basic embryology and development of the eye.
• Prepare the RetCam System and position the infant for imaging the retina.
• Review proper imaging techniques and how to localize the posterior, nasal, temporal, superior and inferior retinal fields.

This course is valid for 1.0 CE Contact hours.

A highly-skilled, passionate individual with over 19 years of Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Imaging experience in both clinical and surgical settings. She specializes in Retina, Pediatric, and ROP imaging. Before joining Natus, she was a Sr. Ophthalmic Photographer at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She is a current member of the Ophthalmic Photography Society with multiple ocular publications and award-winning images. While sharing her passion for Pediatric imagining, Brenda hopes all tiny miracles will receive superior care.

Miguel Lind graduated in 1999 from Physical Therapy of the University of Puerto Rico and obtained his Masters in Public Health from the School of Public Health, University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus in 2014. Miguel joined Natus in 2016, and is currently the International Clinical Education Manager for Newborn Screening. Miguel has worked actively in education on Hearing Assessment & Screening promoting the benefits of Hearing Screening and ROP Screening around the world, and actively supports clinicians in utilizing RetCam technology in the clinical setting.

Rob Winter is Sr. International Clinical Specialist for RetCam Natus Newborn Care. He has been working with the RetCam product line for 14 years. Rob is a CPO-Certified Para-Optometric with the American Optometric Assoc., California Optometric Association and also a member of the Ophthalmic Photographer’s Society. Rob brings with him, 25+ years in the Optometry and Ophthalmology Fields with a focus on adult & pediatric retinal imaging. Support and development of clinical educational materials is important to Rob, to help ensure the best care and visual outcomes for the littlest of patients.

Suzanne Noel has a clinical background in nursing and is responsible for providing clinical education support for Natus Newborn Care in her role as Clinical Applications Specialist for Canada. Her expertise spans in several areas including aEEG application, Jaundice Management, Newborn Hearing Screening, Family Centered Care and Eye Imaging, where she delivers presentations and educational sessions to Health Care Professionals throughout Canada.
