Course introduction:
This eSeminar will Focus on Digital Imaging for Retinopathy of Prematurity to provide clear, concise and accurate images. During this session, we will cover clinical fundamentals of the disease, identification of the appearance of areas of the retina with ROP and discuss treatment options for the best possible visual outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
• Discuss the disease Retinopathy of Prematurity and how it affects the population.
• Describe the appearance of a retina with ROP, based on fundus photographs and fluorescein angiograms.
• Describe the treatment options for ROP and the possible visual outcomes , if untreated.

Ashley Brito Pichardo
Ashley has been in the ophthalmology field for twelve years and has worked as an ophthalmic assistant, a LASIK surgical assistant, but primarily as an ophthalmic photographer. She has recently joined the Duke Eye Center team as an Ophthalmic Photographer. Most of her tenure has been with The New England Eye Center at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where she served as the Photography and Clinical Supervisor. She oversaw a broad range of ophthalmic imaging for a multi-specialty practice that supports education and research. Fundus Angiography, OCT, Confocal Microscopy, Neonatal Imaging, and ERG are among the key services she is involved with. She has been affiliated with The Ophthalmology Department at The University of California, San Francisco as well as The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Ashley is active with the Ophthalmic Photographer’s Society. She is a one-time published author for the Journal of Ophthalmic Photography, has acted as
instructor at the OPS Annual Meeting, a lecturer for the Acadia Eye Conference, and a panel lecturer at the JCAHPO Annual Meeting
